Hello from 219!

Things are getting real.

That is how it feels now that we have purchased a home in downtown Muncie. We have been praying, dreaming and trusting God to see a missional and multicultural reformed Church started in downtown Muncie and we are beginning to see those plans become real. We have been searching and trying to find a home for our family in order to launch ministry from and we have finally found it. So this is our official hello from 219!

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God
— Ephesians 2:19

Ephesians 2:19 matches not only the number on our new house downtown, but also our heart for this home and the church that we are trusting God to grow out of it. The church is the household of God, which means its the place that we belong together as a family. And in the context of Ephesians 2, its clear that this family of God is made up of people from every tribe, language, race, ethnicity and culture. And that the good news of Jesus Christ is what creates this new family, reconciling them to God and to one another. So we are trusting God that this new home and by extension this new church would be a place where all who are strangers to God would be welcome. Where all who feel cut off from others would be brought into a new family. And where we would be joined together in worshiping King Jesus as the household of God.

But, we know that this is not going to come easily, just like this new house (which is actually very not new- built in 1911!) it is going to be a lot of work. As we work to restore this old house to beauty and give it a little of our own flare and touch, I think about this new church. How we will need to work hard and make sacrifices and embrace some discomfort for the sake of building something beautiful, the multicultural household of God. If you would like to join us in this effort, please contact us or visit the partner page. We are hoping very soon to have regular gathering events throughout the community in order for others to learn about what we are trusting God for and for opportunities to join us in building the household of God.

In Christ alone,

- Josh
